Vodafone currently provides vital coverage to businesses and the public in the busy St Georges Area of Liverpool from their telecommunications installation on top of Concourse House. Vodafone have been working with Liverpool City Council and English Partnerships to remove their installation on the roof in order to assist the redevelopment whilst at the same time looking to provide replacement coverage of equal quality to existing customers and visitors to the city.
The site on Concourse House currently provides excellent coverage to a good area of this part of the city due not only to location but also height of the building and its loss would create a hole in mobile coverage if not replaced. In order to provide good coverage Vodafone have found two replacement sites, which are required to provide the same level of coverage but on lower buildings. One of these two buildings is 45-57 London Road and the proposal has satisfied planning legislation through its design, the second site is the proposal at the ABC Cinema Building.
The ABC Cinema Building is a Grade II Listed Building and in order to undertake any works Vodafone must apply to Liverpool City Council as planning authority for both planning permission and Listed Building Consent (LBC).
